Perinatal guidelines

Pregnancy is an interesting life journey for a woman and her partner.

We offer reliable guidance during your most precious period.

At the Jordanian Medical Center, pregnancy monitoring is conducted according to modern medical guidelines, which focus on the safety of the mother and the birth of a healthy fetus.

The clinic's leading doctors specialize in the management of high-risk pregnancies and offer pregnant women a personalised monitoring plan.

The medical center is involved in a government program for antenatal monitoring, which includes 8 free visits and corresponding laboratory tests throughout the pregnancy.

The Perinatal Department of the Jordanian Medical Center offers all necessary services to pregnant women and their families. The perinatal direction of the center is led by obstetrician-gynecologist Maka Chikovani MD.

The following perinatal services are provided at the clinic:

Fetal antenatal testing
Biophysical profile assessment – is a painless procedure that evaluates the functional state of the fetus, including monitoring the fetal heartbeat and determining the amount of amniotic fluid via ultrasound, as well as assessing the fetal breathing activity and movement. It lasts approximately 30-70 minutes.

Non-stress test – a simple, painless procedure that assesses the fetal heartbeat during the phases of fetal movement and rest. It lasts approximately 20-40 minutes.

Fetal ultrasound examination and diagnostic procedures

Amniocentesis - to rule out fetal genetic pathologies. This procedure involves testing amniotic fluid for genetic pathologies or infections during the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
Combined first-trimester screening – involves the ultrasound assessment of the nuchal fold and a dual screening test with risk calculations. It is used to detect common chromosomal pathologies of the fetus.
Maternal Doppler ultrasound – assesses blood supply to the uterine arteries, umbilical cord, and fetal organs.
Fetal echocardiography – a specialized ultrasound study during which the anatomical structure of the fetal heart, blood flow within it, and heart rate are assessed. It is performed after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Maternal ultrasound examination for the detection of genetic and organic pathologies in the fetus using modern equipment in 3D and 4D formats.

Management of high-risk pregnancies
Parenting school – is the educational program of the Jordanian Medical Center, aimed at providing expectant parents with necessary information, equipping them with practical skills, and offering support during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It is important for both women and men to understand the specifics of pregnancy, have complete information on how to prepare for labor, how to care for a newborn, and learn more about the advantages of lactation (breastfeeding). Our goal is to prepare patients psychologically as well as physically for the moment of birth.
