The urology department of the Jordanian Medical Center, distinguished by its variety of services, modern operating rooms, and postoperative care services, offers patients a comprehensive range of treatments for urological pathologies. The urological surgery direction of the medical center is led by Giorgi Khvadagiani (MD FEBU academic degree, member of the Georgian Urologists Association, European Urology Association EAU, and International Urological Association SIU).
The clinic offers the following services for patients:
Endoscopic operations for kidney, ureter, and bladder stones using high-power holmium lasers, allowing us not to be limited by stone size.
Medication, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and open treatment of benign prostate enlargement – in the case of endoscopy, the procedure is performed using both bipolar equipment and lasers.
Early stage endoscopic operations and medication treatment (chemotherapy or immunotherapy) for bladder and upper urinary tract tumors – in cases of extensive disease, radical cystectomy (removal of the bladder) and nephroureterectomy (removal of the kidney and ureter) can be performed either laparoscopically or openly. In the case of cystectomy, various types of intestinal reservoirs (orthotopic reservoir, sigmoid rectal reservoir, thigh intestinal conduit) are created in agreement with the patient.
Treatment of prostate cancer with radical prostatectomy (removal of the prostate) via both laparoscopic and open methods – systemic hormone and chemotherapy are performed in cases of widespread and metastatic disease.
Surgical resection of early-stage kidney cancer tumors both laparoscopically and openly – in the case of large tumors, laparoscopic nephrostomy (removal of the kidney) is performed. In the presence of thrombosis in the inferior vena cava, open nephrectomy and thrombectomy are carried out. In individual cases, this procedure can be performed laparoscopically.
Plastic surgery for the pyeloureteral junction or any section of the ureter during stenosis, performed laparoscopically and openly.
In cases of urethral stricture, endoscopic incision using lasers, or in more complex cases, open plastic surgery using various methods.
A full range of emergency services: detorsion of the testes; vascular shunting in priapism; stenting of the ureter or nephrostomy in cases of upper urinary tract obstruction; ureterorenoscopy and stone removal in case of ureteral stones; in cases of severe bleeding from the lower urinary tract, removal of clots and coagulation (stopping the bleeding).
Lithotripsy
The Jordanian Medical Center has implemented the treatment of urinary stone diseases using extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. With the lithotripsy method, kidney stones are fragmented, that is, shattered by ultrasonic waves generated outside the body (extracorporeally). The location of the stones is fixed using X-rays and ultrasound, which increases the likelihood of successful stone fragmentation.
Advantages of lithotripsy:
It is a non-invasive, less traumatic method of treatment.
The patient does not require anesthesia.
The patient does not need to be hospitalized.
The average duration of the procedure is 1 hour.
